Part 5: Snooping

Oh and The Gang can now speak English. Not extremely good English- except Hiei who learn quickly. So now there won't be much bold speech.

Brianey/ Your Point of view

You sighed as the hot water of the shower jetted over your tired and confused form, washing some of your suspicions and worry down the metal plug. You're mixed CD, pounded out "Break stuff" by Limp Bizkit, and you bobbed slightly to it dancing, your eyes closed. Shadow had left not ten minutes ago, and you were very worried about how she was acting.

She was acting like she knew something. But she couldn't tell me what. The gang were, too and Yusuke and Kayko seem to be having some sort of lover's tiff - but I though Kayko was going out with that Yuki guy, and what was with Hiei? He was fine with me until Shadow appeared. Sighing in sadness, you turned off the shower and pulled the shower curtain to the side and stepped out. Wrapping a navy blue bath sheet around yourself you padded out onto the landing and into your room; closing the door behind you and seated yourself on the edge of the bed. The breeze from the window floated in, chilling your wet skin slightly but you closed your eyes relaxing.

"Everything is stupid... why do I even bother to try to work things out - I'm probably just being paranoid anyway." You mumbled, as you used the towel to dry yourself. You heard rustling from the sycamore tree outside. Quickly snapping your head to the window you searched the dense leaves. You saw nothing.

See you're going insane, Bri, just calm down and forget about it; go out for a ride. Pulling your underwear on, you tugged on a pair of black baggy jeans and a black top on. You combed your streaked hair and tugged your gloves over your creamy hands, and, grabbing the keys to your moped, proceed out and drove off, hoping to find relief from the day's hazy uncertainty.

However you didn't know that people we're counting on you to go out.

Hiei's Point of View

You sighed as you saw Brianey leave her room, and the distant sound of her moped from the front of the house concluded that the house was now empty.

"Hn. She's gone." You called down to the other detectives from the Sycamore tree. You had been very lucky to get so close with out her knowing, as she had almost caught you when you jumped up - thankfully she had dismissed it, and carried on changing. You had turned away when she dressed - not being a pervert like the others. You scooted expertly up the branch as the others were skirting over the garden fence. They gathered around window two stories below.

"Right. Hiei don't be too long- her parents will be back soon. Just look around for anything of importance that can help us... and then get the hell out." Yusuke was looking at you with a pointed look to which you rolled your eyes at.

"I've done this before - I am a known thief. Just let me do what I need and stop briefing me, detective." You snapped coldly at him. You heard him swear at you as you looked at the window. Kazuma was snickering.

"Hiei, see what kind of panties she wears!" Yusuke grinned at you and you returned it with a shocked look, blushing but quickly recovered and glared.

"Baka echhi! Do you really think I want to know what that on'na wears! You disgust me." You heard Yusuke start to laugh and Kurama attempting to quieten them down. Obviously the lead detective was trying to make a joke, but you hadn't understood it. You on the other hand just completely ignored your three companions and jumped soundless onto the window ledge.

Moving for the window, you pulled it open far enough to slip in. Your feet touched the black carpet.

"Hn. Not bad for an on'na." You mumbled as you observe the dark navy walls of the room, with misty grey patches and black silhouetted houses and trees at the bottom. So... she likes night time views of the city. And. You chuckled as you see band posters and random graffiti drawings lined along one of the walls and down the built in wardrobe (closet). Many of the pictures were of Anime 'punks', or 'Gothic' creations. You reminded yourself why you're here and quickly began to look around the room, checking draws and boxes for anything of value. Finding nothing in Brianey's room, you stepped out onto the landing; quietly sneaking into her parent's room.

It looked ordinary enough - Like an average ningen room. With violet paint on the bottom of the walls and a light lilac around the top. The bed was king-sized.  Strange. I would have thought her parents would hold at least something of their true selves in here. You commented. Not really stopping to think about that, you started to sift through the wardrobe, in old boxes and cases. Only stopping every once in a while when something remotely interesting catches your eyes. After half an hour you sighed and started to put everything back.

"Kuso." You cursed. You had dropped a large shoe box, the contents of which now lay sprawled on the floor of the bedroom. Shaking your head and condemning yourself for your own carelessness you begin to pick up the papers and documents, however, stopped prematurely as you glanced at a brown envelope.

Brianey

Curiously you put down the other items and picked the letter up, rotating it to look at the back. Seeing it was open you turned the envelope over to see a letter is inside, along with a silver necklace with a pentagram and wolf on the end of the chain - that dropped out into your palm. Taking out the letter you scanned over it.

Brianey,

If you're reading this - it means we have been killed.  Most likely by Akki. We left this to explain to you things you needed to be told; but we never got chance to tell you.

You are a demon - a darkness Wolf. I was the daughter of the leader to the Wolf Demons. Your dad is the son and also wolf hunter of the Dark Demon Leader.  We never told you as you were in danger of being killed and we have been hiding in Ningenkai for the past 15 years, from the very powerful demon.

This demon - Akki, wishes to take over the Dark Demons and Wolf demons, which will allow him to become the leader of the two clans - and making it possible for him to over power and destroy the whole of the Human World. However only on thing stands in his way.

That thing is you Brianey.

I am so sorry we never told you - and that we hid your powers from you. But it was necessary to protect you and keep you alive. You are the blood heir to the thrown of both the Dark and Wolf clans.

I am so; so sorry we kept this from you.

We love you. I hope you forgive us.

Mom and Dad

       ~x~

You stared quietly at the paper in your hand, feeling slight anger toward the writer of this letter. They we're just going to leave her a letter. You snorted as you stuffed it back into the envelope, pocketing it you glanced at the necklace.

We can analyse it... see what it's for. You thought. You quickly packed everything away and went back out the room to the others.

Brianey/ Your Point of View

You pulled the helmet off your head, shaking it to get the hair out of your eyes. That was a good ride. I feel better. You reflected as you open the door to your house. You had gone for a good three hours ride, just driving around the town and the outskirts. You had enjoyed it immensely - feeling slight release from everything and what you had been thinking about your new friends. You had decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. Like mom says - everyone should have a chance to prove themselves.  Going to the back of the house, you headed for the kitchen and open the fridge, taking out a bottle of water you leaned casually on the counter and drank it.

Knock, knock, knock.

Looking down to the front door you could distinguish a small mass of black on the other side of the window panel. Who's that? you asked yourself as you moved to the door and opened it.

"Hey Hiei, what's up?"

"I said I would train you didn't I? Come on." He turned from you and began walking; you stayed motionless for a moment before quickly locking the door and following. You we're both silent as you walked to a near by field.

The field was beautiful. The trees lined it at one end and it undulated down to the creek.

"Do you know any sort of fighting?" Hiei had turned to you now; you were standing in the low rays of the sun, the grass around you rustling slightly as if it sensed what was going on. You looked at him shrugging.

"I've 'ad a few fights in my days, that's all." You confessed to him, he nodded. You were very curious to know why he was being so formal with you. He's... changed again; he's acting different. You see his expression change for a brief second. You gained a confused face. What he... looked upset? Nah I'm imagining things. I don't know him very well but Hiei ain't one for sorrow.

"This is going to be harder than any fight or scuff you have had at school - I am not going to go easy on you. You must listen to everything I say when we are training. Focus and do what I tell you, when I tell you." He was speaking firmly to you; you kept your eyes on him.

"You mean... you're going to own me while we train?" You sounded slightly annoyed by this.

"Yes... when we train. I will own you - but only when we train. Do you still want to do this? There's no backing out when you decide. What I am going to teach you is very, very hard."

"I'll do it." You interrupted defiantly. He kept his eyes locked on you for a long time, the wind picked up.

"Alright. Now; we begin."
