Part 3: Trips and Translations

Oh, words in bold are in Japanese- unless we're in one of the gangs Point's of view, because they speak Japanese as their normal language. ^_~

Hiei's Point of View

You stared agitatedly, out the window of your new room. The other's and the girl, were all moving things into the house, you had refused point blank to help.  I am not going near that baka of a girl. I can't believe she's our assignment! You glared more outside. The sound of someone knocking on your door pulls you out of your thoughts, you turned.

"What do you want, baka?"

"Look, first off I don't want you calling me that. Secondly - your stuff needs bringing in to your room. Yusuke... I think said to ask you before moving it."

You stood up, looking at the object of your foul mood. "Hn." You strode past her and out, walking down the stairs. You heard her scoff and smirked. You picked your chest of draws up, your bed and your weapons. (Yes he picked them all up at the same time- it's Hiei were talking about here lol) and take them slowly back up stairs past the now wide-eyed neighbour and dumped them where you wanted them.

"How the hell did you do that?"

"Hn, not of your concern - now leave me alone. I do not feel like wasting my time with you."  You retorted bluntly. You see her sigh, rolling her eyes as she exits your room. You go back to looking around the room.

I'm going to need to paint, white is too bland. You noted.

Brianey's/Your Point of View

After closing the door to the boy's room, you stood there thinking.  He's a complete ass hole. You moved to Yusuke's room and knocked, you heard him yell, so you proceeded to go in.

"Um... wondering if you need help at all?"  You asked looking at him putting things away, he looked at you from his hunched position and grinned. Straightening himself he nodded.

"Well, yeah - while we're at it we can get to know each other better."  He passed you a handful of books and games and you began to put them tidily on the shelf. He returned back to sorting his clothes out.

You had been helping these people now for about five hours, after apologising to the red - head, who you found out to be called Shuichi. (Not Kurama- he's using his ningen name.) They had told you they were, transfer students from Tokyo, and that they were stopping here for the rest of the year, attending Derby University. Everyone had been very happy to meet you - except the spiky haired one. You and Yusuke had instantly clicked, as you had lots of thing in common. Your sense of humour was one of those things.

"So... what's up with short stuff? Seems like he's got a pole shoved up his ass or something?"   You asked while picking up more of the games. You heard Yusuke burst out laughing and you turned grinning. He shook his head and regained his composure.

"Hiei? Don't worry he's normally like that - he didn't want to move here. I wasn't very set on it either but it's not half bad now that I've met you. Say how come you're so good at Japanese?"

"Oh... they have a course here in England for it, a University Degree. I was the only one to take it - besides Shadow. She's my friend. The other people here don't really feel any need to learn different languages ...but I've always wanted to go to Japan. Since I'd need to understand what I'm saying I took the degree at Uni for it."

"Right, gotcha. Pass us the big green bag will ya?"

Passing him the bag, you observed him. Feeling a slightly tingling sensation all around you - in the air. You creased your eyebrows in confusion, and stared into space.  Why... do I feel strange? Around him?

"Bri? Brianey you alright...?" Yusuke was waving a hand in front of you which you caught and gazed at him. You were silent for a moment, gathering your thoughts but then nodded. He looked slightly worried but shrugged it off. You both fell silent again as you continued to put all his things away.

 Kurama's Point of view

You and Botan had now finished putting all the furniture into the house, and had set everything up. You sighed satisfied and go upstairs into Hiei's room. He was as always, on the window sill; you coughed to get his attention.

"Are you alright Hiei? You seem quite upset..." You go over and sit on the side of his bed, observing him calmly. He turned back to the window closing his eyes.

"I'm fine. Do not worry yourself over me, Kurama. I just don't like the concept of change." He replies, you frown hearing slight sadness in his voice, though it was well hidden. Figuring his mind was on, possibly, Mukuro. Of the four detectives only you knew the nature of Hiei's return, Mukuro had left him deciding she needed time to rediscover herself. Hiei had come back changed, he was less callous then he had been when you had first met. Nodding you stood up, striding to stand near his door, you turned back to him.

"Perhaps, you should try adjusting. Also surrounding yourself or getting to know people from the new environment can help a great deal. I believe we need some food and no doubt paint - perhaps Brianey would be happy to help out, ne?" Hinting slyly to the idea you smiled. He stared impassively back and grunted; you chuckled knowingly and closed the door going to your room to finish unpacking as best you could. You only hope your words helped him.

 Hiei's Point of View

As Kurama closes the door, you stared at it for a moment, debating his words to you. You knew the kitsune was proposing you go and get food items with Brianey, so that you could talk alone with her - or as they put it, 'Get to know each other'. You sighed deeply to yourself and pushed off the sill, you searched the house. Finally stopping and shouting,

"On'na Where are you?"

You waited, your sensitive hearing picking up light thuds from the stairs you move there and see the girl looking annoyed at you.

"I got a name, use it." She keeps eye contact with you, which you find admirable and nodded. Allowing her that one courtesy.

"Brianey. We need paint, and food can you show me where to get it from?" You wait for an answer, all the while scanning over her.  Short - good body build, bad attitude but it serves her well for respect. Strong and looks to know something of combat. She could be a formidable opponent if trained well. Pity.  You commented.

"Hiei? Yo Hiei? You alright?"  Brianey was looking at you concerned, you quirked a brow and nodded, turning your back to her and motioning to her to move you walked out the door. She followed you scuffing her trainers against the hard pavement - you however are on edge scanning every which way for potential threats.

Brianey/ Your Point of View

He's very tense. Like a... I don't know like he's watching our for a enemy or something. Wonder why? You thought as you watched the boy beside you. You were very intrigued by him. His cold nature towards everyone, his aura, everything about him was almost inhuman. Yet you sensed that underneath, inside of him this boy was probably just like you. Just a kid trying to get through this hell ride they call life. He turned to look at you with a curious look, which you returned.  What was that look for? It... was like he could read my mind? You shuddered uncomfortable and carry on down the darkening street, with your new companion. All the while new thoughts cropping up as the silence lingered between you both. You sighed.

 "Do you like fighting on'na?"

You looked bewildered. Hiei was side glancing at you waiting for an answer.  Err...

"Y-Yeah... yeah I do. Why did you-"

"What type of fighting do you like?"

"Any... but I wouldn't mind learning how to use swards, scythes, anything really."

"Hn... wouldn't you now. Have you done any of that before?"

"Nah... Mom said she didn't want me to. Dad said it wouldn't hurt - but I dunno they have arguments over it. I got no clue why it's only learning how to defend yourself ain't it?"

He nodded to you, slowing down so he's walking next to you. You gazed at him for a moment before asking a question.

 "Do you?"

"Do I... what?"

"Like fighting?"

"Yes... I am a master at the Katana, among many things."

"Really? Wow that sounds like something."

"Yes... it takes time, determination, and commitment."

"I'll bet - I'd love to do that."  you smiled to yourself, imagining yourself being some fearless warrior. You heard Hiei snort lowly as you turned the corner into the paint shop. He looked at you.

"I'll make a deal with you on'na. If you teach me English - I in return will train you."

You stopped dead just outside the entrance to the shop, and stared back at him, your eyes gleaming with confusion and a smidgen of excitement. He smirked, obviously seeing the excitement, and knowing he had peeked your interest. You turned all the way back around and faced him, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.

"Don't be jerking with me... you serious?"

"Deadly. If you teach me how to speak your language. I will train you to use weapons - martial arts. Everything I know."

You could see he was serious; his face was completely devoid of anything. You grinned. You held your hand out and he takes it.

"Deal."  You agreed nodding. He nodded back to you and takes his hand away; you go into the shop and through the tall and well stacked isles. (You're in. hmm... B&Q that's a DIY shop in England :D Just so you know) You and Hiei walk down them until he stopped.

"What does that say?" He points to a label. You go and read it.

"Curtains ...here you say it like this."

"Cur-tain." You say it slowly in English for him. He looks at you.

"Cur-tain. Curtain." He repeated. You nodded confirming he said it correctly. He looks please with himself. He dragged you over to something else and points. You read and say.

"Spanners." (Wrench... in England it a spanner) both in Japanese and then slowly in English. He repeats and you nodded, dragging you over to more things, you started laughing as you go around the whole shop teaching him. Finally after a good two hours, you walked out the shop with the things you needed and he followed.

"Thank you... how do you say Thank you?"

"Th-ank y-ou." You look at him.

"Thank you, Brianey." He says in English. You grinned nodding.

"Nai mondai." (means No problem.) He smirked at you. The English lessons picked back up when you entered a supermarket.

Finally at nine o'clock you knocked the door to their house, Yusuke answered.

"About time, what have you two been doing?" He complained taking a few bags off you and moving so you can get in, you grinned as you looked at Hiei.

"Not much- just talking."

Yusuke stopped dead and turns around confused. He stares at the smirking Hiei and the grinning you before asking.

"Mind repeating that for me? In erm... a language I understand?"

You laughed and Hiei grunted mumbling another insult in English. You go past him and started to put the things away. You see Hiei disappear upstairs armed with wallpaper, paste and a brush and a small can of golden paint. You laughed shaking your head.

Shuichi came into the kitchen and started to prepare what you think must be their food. You smiled at him, putting away the last packet of crisps (potato chips) into the cupboard for them before bowing to him.

"I got to go home now. It's been fun to met you all - if you wanna hang out tomorra or... well anytime, just come knock on the door. Oh and if ya want I can show you round the University complex, Monday?"

"That would be very kind of you, thank you. I'll tell the others, have a good night Miss Walker." He bowed to you as you go out the kitchen door. You call up to the others as a good bye and get a round of different answers before going out the door and heading back to yours, locking your bike up in the garage and heading in. It was only when you locked the front door and got to the microwave, to re-heat your food that you realised with shock.

I never told them my last name... so how did Shuichi know it?
